More Canada Day...

Well, we celebrated Canada Day by going to an All-American baseball game!!! :-) I was a little hesitant to go again since Alexa only lasted 3 innings a couple weeks ago...but we were going with some friends, so we thought "why not?"!! We went with my new and wonderful friend, Taffney, her husband Roy, their adorable 2 boys, Quincy and Olan, and Taff's in-laws. Alexa is in love with the boys so they kept her entertained and we're happy to say we lasted ALL 9 innings!! Taff and I met at the splashpark a few weeks back and it feels like we've been friends forever...isn't being a mom great, there are so many perks like having kids to help meet new people!! :-) Anyways, we had a great time...Alexa and Quincy even shared a special moment - a sweet, tender little kiss...but when we tried to capture it again on camera, Alexa would have none of it, as you can see from one of the below pictures!

Daddy's Little Girl!

Earlier in the day, we found Alexa lounging in her "tuttle". We bought this for her last year to play in the pool and tried it again this year but as you can see, she enjoys it MUCH more in the living room. Oh well...at least we're still getting some use out of it!

A Family Picnic...and Day of Fun!

Kevin has this week off of school so we are making the most of family time together. Today, we ventured south of the city to Bernheim Forest. It really is so beautiful here in Kentucky...we love all the lush greenery! We decided to have a picnic lunch and had picked out a very nice spot by a pond when all of a sudden the geese we had walked by earlier were almost upon us. Apparently our PB&J's smelled really good!! So we quickly gathered everything up before the Canadian Honkers could steal our lunch and moved to a less picturesque spot where we hoped the geese wouldn't follow. Thankfully, we were able to finish our lunch in peace and then walked around the park enjoying all the scenery.

We even popped into the Visitor's Center and Alexa enjoyed playing with the stuffed animals!

After the Visitor's Center, we drove up to a place called Canopy Tree Overlook. It was so pretty and this long bridge took us to 75 feet above the ground. It was crazy because the wind was blowing the trees but it made it look like the bridge was moving...not a fun feeling!

Alexa LOVED running up and down the long walkway though and would make this funny little noise that I can only explain as sounding like a little puppy! Enjoy the video...it was near the end of our outing and so she wasn't nearly as excited as the first time she ran up it.

Our sweet little girl...she loves being outside and had so much fun exploring and seeing all the different things!

Playing with Daddy...

Alexa is a happy little girl, quick to smile and laugh...but we never know what will REALLY get her going. I was cleaning up in the kitchen a couple days ago when I heard endless giggles from the hallway. I went to investigate with the camera but only caught the tail end of it. I love that Kevin loves to play and spend time with Alexa. He is such a great daddy and they have a very special relationship that I hope will continue through the years.

Happy Birthday Amelia!!

Alexa's cousin Amelia turns 2 today!! In honor of Amelia's big day, and per her request that there weren't enough videos on our blog, we are posting 2 videos just for her! We love and miss you Amelia and hope you are having a very fun day!! (Since Alexa can't sing Happy Birthday herself, we had to assist...sorry, that I'm cut out, at least you can hear me, right??!)

A day at home...

Happy Father's Day!

Alexa and I want Kevin to know what a great dad we think he is!! I couldn't ask for a better father for my little girl and she couldn't ask for a better daddy! We love and appreciate all he does for us. Happy Father's Day!

We had our friends the Wikles' over for Aaron's first Father's Day and shared the eclair cake I made for Kevin with them. Alexa wasn't too sure what to think of little Samantha.

Here they are! I said I'd post them once I got them scanned in and my lovely friend Rachael kindly helped me out with that today!! The top one is the main one we got and Kevin loved the 2nd one so we got an 8x10 of that as well. We also got one shot of just Alexa and I, however, I forgot to bring that pic with me to be scanned. These pictures were taken by our friend, Aaron Wikle, back in early May when we had dinner over at their house one night! I love Alexa's expressions that were captured! She melts my heart every day and I'm so eternally grateful she is a part of my life!

Our dear friends, the Wikles, have a new addition to their family....their new baby girl, Samantha Grace!! We are so thrilled for them and so thankful that their prayers (and I'm sure the prayers of many others on their behalf) have been answered! What a blessing children are and I know they are going to be great parents!

I was able to attend a baby shower for Samantha today. She received so many fun things...she'll definitely be a very well dressed little girl!! Congrats Aaron and Brynn!!

Friday Night - Family Night!

Friday night is usually Date Night at our house...but we decided to brave the heat and head to the baseball game for a fun-filled family night. Louisville has a minor league team here, The Louisville Bats. Kevin and I have been to a few games since we moved here, but this time we took Alexa. Since her bedtime is 7:00 and that's when the game started, we gave her a late nap (thankfully she cooperated!!) and then headed to the ball park. And she did amazingly well, better than we expected. We had a fun time and Alexa enjoyed cheering the team on!!

Sticker Fun!!

We decided to try something new...playing with stickers. Alexa wasn't so sure about it at first, but then thought having all the stickers on her was pretty fun!

Look at me! Still enthralled with the stickers! Note to self for next time though...if stickers are left on too long, they hurt coming off!!

A little nostalgic...

I can't believe how much my baby girl has grown up this past year!! She's no longer my chunky little baby (weep, weep)!

A Surprise Visit!!

Last night, right around 8:30, someone knocked on our door...and kept knocking for about 30 seconds straight! Kevin and I were sitting on the couch, me in my pj's...so I ran up the stairs while he went to check it out. We weren't expecting anyone! And to my great surprise, it was my fabulous friend, Nancy, from Canada. She was here visiting a couple months ago and so I never expected to see her on my door step again so soon. Calgary is a LOOOOOONG ways from Kentucky!! Well, it turns out she had a wedding to go to in Chicago this weekend and couldn't pass up the opportunity to come by for a quick visit since she was in my "neck of the woods"!!! What fun! So we visited last night and then had a fun morning at the park where we let Alexa play in the water and then had a yummy BBQ. During Alexa's nap, and since Kevin doesn't have school this week, Nance and I were able to go out for some girl time...which of course includes Target!! Sadly though, Nancy is already gone. It was a super fast visit but oh so fun! Thanks Nancy for making the drive to surprise us!
