Alexa: Last Day of Kindergarten

Someone is excited (and yet super sad too) about her last day of Kindergarten!
She's ready for school to be done and very much looking forward to summer break.
But she's sad to be leaving her fabulous teacher, knowing she won't ever have her as a teacher again.

First day of school...Last day of school!
The sassy-ness is still there!

I started a new tradition.
I ordered shirts for each of the kiddos with the year they will graduate from high school on and I plan on taking a picture on the last day of school every year so that I have a year by year picture of them, wearing the exact same thing, to see how they grow!
Kind of a fun memento of their school years.  Thanks Pinterest!

Getting off the bus for the last time as a Kindergartner!  Wahooooo!

It's SUMMERTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexa: Kindergarten Promotion

Today is Alexa's BIG day!
She graduated from Kindergarten!
She's officially a 1st Grader now (although she technically still has 3 1/2 days of school left!!)!

She has been looking forward to this day for a looooong time. So have I.
And then Payton got super sick this week. I agonized about having to miss Alexa's promotion today.
But thankfully I didn't have to stay overnight at the hospital with Payton last night, AND a sweet friend came to the rescue this morning...offering to come stay with Payton while I went to the school.
It broke my heart though to leave Payton screaming for me because she wanted to go and because she was so sick!

The first part of the Kindergarten Promotion was an ABC Parade.
Each of the students was assigned a letter.
Alexa got "B".
She was a Beautiful Bride!
A fun new friend from the gym happened to have this perfect bride dress up dress that she let me borrow!
Isn't she adorable??!!!

Beaming during the parade!

Then there was a musical performance.
They sang some really cute songs.
I wish I could figure out how to get my videos to upload!

Barrett thought the songs were too loud!

Then there was a class presentation back in Alexa's classroom.
Her teacher, Miss White, is seriously amazing!

Getting her certificate!!!

I am so proud of Alexa!  She has come so far and learned soooo much this past year!
She has LOVED Kindergarten and LOVED Miss White!

There was a family picnic to finish things off...but I left early to go home to be with Payton, and Alexa enjoyed having lunch with her best friend, Ally, and her mom.

1st Grade...HERE WE COME!!!!

School Fall Festival

Tonight was Alexa's first school Fall Festival.  Alexa was really excited to go and see her teacher, Miss White.  I wasn't AS excited to go since Kevin is away hunting this weekend with his dad and brothers so it's just me and the kiddos.  Me and 3 kids at an outdoor school event didn't sound super fun to me...but we braved it anyways.  And the kids had so much fun.  There were LOTS of things to do to keep everyone entertained!  I really wanted a picture of Alexa with her teacher, but when we finally found her, Alexa became super shy and wouldn't let me take one.  :(
All in all, it ended up being a fun night...and something to do while daddy is away!

..::Alexa's 1st Day of Kindergarten::..

My firstborn started Kindergarten today!!!
To say she was excited would be a HUGE understatement!!!

She even rode the bus her very first day.  Here she is waiting for the bus with her best little friend, Ally, who also happens to live right across the street AND is in the same kindergarten class!!!

Getting ON the bus!

Sharing a seat with Ally!

Getting OFF the bus at school!

Her home away from home for the next year!

And her teacher, Miss White....I can tell already that we are going to LOVE Miss White!

Her table...and two of her friends we already know, Ally and Krew, were assigned to the same table!

Coming home after her 1st day of Kindergarten!  Such a big girl now...only 12 more years to go!! :-)

{Preschool Graduation}

It's official...Alexa is READY for kindergarten!!!

Today was her preschool graduation from Lord of Grace Preschool.  Her teacher this past year was Ms. Kris and Alexa loved her.  They sang some songs, got their graduation necklace and then we had a little lunch afterwards.

Here is Alexa with her new best friend, Jessie.  She would talk about her all the time and said they always played together at school.  She was so excited to find out that Jessie will be going to the same Elementary School as her too.  In her words, "What would I do if I never got to see Jessie again??"  Cute!

Alexa made lots of new friends this past year and has really enjoyed going to school.  It's going to be a loooong summer until Kindergarten begins as she is extremely excited to be moving forward!!
(Notice Logan???!!!  He's makin' the moves on Alexa again!!) :-)

..::A Big BIG Day::..

A new chapter has begun....the school years!! Alexa turns 5 in November, which means she missed the cutoff for Kindergarten by only a couple of months....so we opted for preschool this year. Three mornings a week, Monday-Wednesday-Friday, from 9am-noon at Lord of Grace Preschool, just under 10 minutes from our house. It's fabulous! Alexa was soooooooooo excited for her first day! She had no problem walking right into her classroom and getting settled. No tears here...for her OR for me! We were both soooooo READY for today!! After I picked her up and asked how her day went, she asked "mommy, can I go every day??"! I'd say it's safe to say that she likes it! I know she's technically ready for kindergarten...but this will be a good transition year for her to get ready for all day-every day kindergarten next year!
****
Good luck, Alexa...mommy and daddy are so proud of you!!
