Update on last night...

Alright...so after our close call last night, all we experienced was a couple more good thunderstorms and some heavy rain, no more tornadoes!! Thankfully! Here are a few pictures, one from the Shell gas station just down the road (David should be really familiar with this gas station!!!), one from a tree down not far from us and one from the Kroger right around the corner from us. Shopping carts were flung into the dry cleaners right next to it and there was a lot of glass to clean up. We'll have to go check it out later today. We're so thankful our first taste of a tornado wasn't so serious and we're hoping all our friends and family here in Louisville can say the same this morning!

A close call...

We've had a pretty heart-racing evening here in Louisville....we've had a taste of our first tornado. Kevin had just left to go on splits with the missionaries when I heard the tornado siren start, so I immediately called Kevin and he was already on his way home, having heard the sirens as well. We stayed glued to the news, watching the storm draw closer as the Tornado Warning continued. I had been about to put Alexa down for the night but they were saying on the news that a tornado could touch down any minute and since her room is on the top floor of our building, I decided to keep her with us. Not long after, the calm dark skies outside were broken by some loud SNAPS and CRACKS followed by wind like we've never seen....so we very quickly ducked into our storage closet. We waited there for a few minutes but the storm passed quickly and we ventured out of the closet to once again watch the news. It wasn't long until they started announcing reports of a funnel cloud touching down in the Frankfort Avenue/Crescent Hill neighborhood...OUR neighborhood! YIKES! It's now been about an hour and a bit since that happened and more reports are coming in of huge trees falling over, damage done to buildings, shopping carts flung into the glass windows of the Kroger strip mall right around the corner from us! This storm was definitely right on top of us and we know that although it wasn't super serious....we were still blessed and watched out for. We're so very grateful for that and to know we're still safe tonight. However....there's another string of storms with the same severity heading our way so we'll keep you posted!

Makin' Messes

Today had been a productive day...everything was going well - we'd gone for a walk in the park, came home and I'd made my dinners for dinner group while Alexa was napping and had even started laundry. Then Alexa woke up and she was in a pretty good mood and we were just playing. Well, she loves those Gerber fruit puffs and also likes to just shake the cannister that they come in. And I had briefly taken my attention away from her as I was watching probably A Baby Story or something :-) and then looked over and found this! I didn't think she could get the lid off....but apparently I was wrong....WAY wrong!! Anyways, she thought she was pretty funny and I couldn't help but laugh so we took some pictures and a video before cleaning up the mess. You gotta love kids! I know this is just a glimpse of what is yet to come...

Getting so big

Alexa is just getting so big! She's so close to walking these days and cruises around on anything she pulls herself up on! She looked so cute in this outfit that she got from her cousin Norah Piepgrass.

Fall Break 2007

Kevin had his Fall Break from school this past weekend. It was also "Canadian" Thanksgiving and normally we would have celebrated with a yummy turkey dinner, but decided instead to head up to Cincinnati to go to the Newport Aquarium. We had a fun day and even made it to the Gap Outlet on our way home where we got Alexa's first Halloween costume. She's going to be the most adorable lion! It was a long day for our little girl though and she zonked out on the way home. She did so great on our road trip though...we might even be tempted to go on some more!! Anyways, it was great having Kevin home for a couple days. Now we're looking forward to next month when he has time off again for Thanksgiving!

Tubby Time

Alexa has decided bathtime is no longer all that fun. She'd rather crawl OUT of the tub...so we have to do it quick. Her hair is getting so long now though that we thought it'd be fun to style it while shampooing her hair! Doesn't she look mah-velous!?!

Getting Cleaned Up...

Alexa makes us laugh. After she's done eating, as soon as I get the washcloth out to clean her up, she starts crying and will put her hands in front of her face to keep me away - she hates that part. So I decided that would be a funny thing to video....however, as soon as she saw the camera, she thought it was funny and totally put on a show. What a little stink...we've already got a drama queen on our hands!

The Miracle of Life

Our wonderful friends, Kirk and Amanda Graves, were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Karter, on September 19, 2007. I was lucky and got to be at the hospital for this exciting occasion. He's the cutest little boy and him and Alexa are going to be the bestest of friends!

Upside Down

Alexa is so funny...she'll be crawling along and then will just poke her bum up in the air and peek through her legs. I'm surprised I caught it on camera because as soon as I brought the camera out, she'd quit doing it and crawl over to me to grab at the camera. Gone are the days of her just posing!
