Shot Through the Heart....

I am in love!! Okay, so we all know that Kevin is my true love, best friend and eternal companion....however, I have a teensy weensy, little bit of a...okay, HUGE crush on Jon Bon Jovi! As my present for my big milestone birthday this year, my wonderful friend, Waveney (who also turns 30 this year AND shares my love of JBJ), and I decided to celebrate by going to the Bon Jovi concert in Nashville last Thursday. IT WAS AMAZING!! This is the 2nd time I've seen JBJ in concert and he puts on a fabulous show! We had such a great time. We left the kiddos at home and enjoyed a much needed break. Although, after getting home at 4:00 AM the next morning and having to get up only a few hours later, I questioned that decision.....oh, who am I kidding????....it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it - headache, tiredness, crankiness, everything...totally worth it!!! I would do it again tonight if given the opportunity. Also, as an added treat, since we went to the Nashville show, both Big & Rich (who wrote a song with Bon Jovi) and LeAnn Rimes (who did a duet with Bon Jovi) performed. Kinda cool!

One of the highlights of the trip was stopping at a Pilot for treats on the way to Nashville and scoring some $5 binoculars which came in VERY handy during the concert!!

Anyways, here are a few pics from our fun-filled getaway:

Me & Wave getting ready to go inside for the concert!

Wave standing by JBJ's trucks!!! (I'm waiting for the pic of me with his trucks from Waveney's camera!!)

Right BEFORE JBJ came on stage...can you feel the anticipation????

I know, I know....just a few pictures!! :-) I wish I could post them all cuz I got some really good pics! And I'm still waiting for the ones from Wave's camera...so there may be a subsequent post!

Down, Set.....

Sorry, this video is sideways...Kevin didn't realize how he was holding the camera. But we thought this video was cute enough to still add, sideways and all! Enjoy!

17 Months Old!!

I did it myself!!

This was a very proud mommy moment for me! It was April 7th and we were getting ready to head to the park. I went into the bathroom and told Alexa to get her shoes. When I came out, she had put her shoes on all by herself....for the first time!!! Granted, yes...they are on the wrong feet...but she's only 17 months, give her some credit!! Anyways, I was so proud of her. She's growing up before my eyes...next she's going to be driving a car!! :-)

March Catchup

PEEK!

Reflections

These pictures are from March, but I'm trying to play catch up! Alexa is so curious and loves to explore her world!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!!

Yesterday was my sweetie's birthday! I LOVE birthdays, so I tried to make it an extra special day for Kevin. I even got up early and made him breakfast before he left for school!! :-) Alexa loved singing Happy Birthday to daddy!
And she LOVED eating the cake!!

And she loved opening daddy's presents for him!!

And she really loved wearing one of daddy's presents! Here are my two favorite people, each in a new birthday t-shirt! :-)

Kevin had the afternoon off from school and after he'd done some studying, we went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and Alexa enjoyed seeing all the animals. She'd stick out her hand and say "baby" at all the animals...it was pretty cute!

We took Alexa on the carousel. This is her 2nd time and she's LOVED it both times. This time though, she kept saying "wow" over and over the entire time we were on it. We had a fun birthday afternoon with our little family. In the evening, after putting Alexa to bed, Kevin and I had a nice quiet dinner to finish the day off. It was so nice to be able to eat in peace! Happy Birthday Kevin and daddy, we love you! You do so much for our family and you help me out all the time. I couldn't ask for a better husband, best friend and eternal companion!

An Earthquake...for reals!!!

Kevin and I were woken up this morning at 5:39 to our whole house shaking. It lasted a good 6-7 seconds and felt like a small elephant had just run through our living room downstairs! Turns out it was a for real earthquake. It happened in West Salem, Illinois - about 150 miles from here and we were lucky enough to feel it!! Kinda crazy. Here's the news article from one of Louisville's local news channels. http://www.wlky.com/news/15919666/detail.html Tornadoes, now earthquakes....what's in store for us next????

WHY AM I YELLING????

This is by far one of my favorite videos of Alexa! She gets in these moods where she "tells" us exactly what she's thinking and she's VERY adamant about it. Definitely in your best interest to listen to what she has to "say" especially when she's on her very own "soap box"!!! It's pretty funny...she sure knows how to make us laugh!

Take Me Home, Country Roads...

Picture it, Sicily, 1912...okay, not really...but how 'bout Leavitt, Alberta, Canada, 1980, and I (Collette) am standing in the center of my Grandma Leavitt's kitchen table, singing "Chunky" Roads (aka Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver). It was my favorite, or so I'm told. I could barely talk but apparently could sing this song!! I don't remember being such a ham (I guess we know where Alexa gets it though!!), but my Grams did record it for posterity so I know for a fact that it actually happened. I'd be singing for everyone to hear and then would say "evwebody cwap" and then would start singing again.

Well, since we live so close to West Virginia, I really wanted to go there (for those of you who are not familiar with the song, it is about WV) and when my mom found out we were going, she insisted that I HAD to sing the song again. So here it is...American Idol, here I come!!! JUST kidding!!

Springtime Fun!

Last Friday, we had some very beautiful, almost summer-like weather AND Kevin had the afternoon off from school....so we took advantage of both and went to the park. Alexa had sooo much fun being outside. She gets quite upset now when we have to go back indoors. We're definitely looking forward to more days like this one!

A late Easter entry...

I forgot I took this video of Alexa checking out her Easter basket on Easter morning. She was still in her just waking up state where we usually cuddle for a few minutes before she's ready to eat breakfast, but as soon as she saw the little shopping cart, she wasn't content to just cuddle on the couch!

Happee Easters!

I know it's a few days late posting the Easter pics....but better late than never!! We had a wonderful Easter. It's such a great time to remember the sacrifice our Savior made for us and a fabulous time to spend together as a family. Alexa was definitely more into the whole celebration part of it this year. She enjoyed meeting the Easter Bunny, seeing the floats at the parade and opening up her Easter basket on Easter morning. And I enjoyed my Easter lillies that Kevin surprised me with! Flowers twice in one week, how lucky can I get??!!! Happy Easter everyone, we hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
