Goodbye Sophomore...hello Junior!!!

We did it!!! Or rather Kevin did it...Alexa and I were just the strong, supporting cast!! We can now officially say we are a 3rd year dental student family!! Two down, only two more to go. What a great feeling this is. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel now! I am so proud of Kevin and all his hard work and despite this being the worst year of his entire academic career, we still saw a lot of him and he still helped out around the house and was a fantastic husband and father. I have been truly blessed to have him in my life. Alexa and I are pretty lucky girls!! We love you!!

Summer is here...kind of!!

The splash park at the zoo officially opened yesterday! And despite it being a somewhat cloudy, windy day, my fabulous friend, Rachael, and I decided to take our kiddos to play in the water. Alexa LOVED it!! So much better than last summer when she could barely crawl. Me thinks this summer will be so much more fun now that she is mobile and wanting to do things like this. I definitely plan on getting a good tan this summer. Here are a few pics of Alexa and Nathan enjoying the splash park!

Steamboat Race

Living in Louisville has been a lot of fun. There always seems to be something to do, especially around Derby time. The 134th Kentucky Derby is this coming Saturday and so there is always a couple weeks of Derby festivities prior to the actual Derby. Today was The Great Steamboat Race down the Ohio River. The participants: The Belle of Louisville, The Belle of Cincinnati and The Delta Queen (also from Cincinnati). This may be the Delta Queen's last race so it was kind of a big deal. We thought it would be fun to have a picnic dinner down by the river to watch this race. And what a perfect day for it. Everyone was out along the river to enjoy the festivities. Alexa particularly loved the rocks and dirt near our picnic blanket! Check out the slideshow below for pictures from our fun afternoon!

Babes n' Baseball Caps

Alexa has decided she doesn't like the normal bonnet type hat, so when I saw these cute baseball caps (the white one came with a cute pink camo one as well), I figured she'd love it since both mommy and daddy have baseball caps - so same, same!! And I was right. She loves it! Doesn't she look adorable???!! I also needed to show off my souvenir from the fabulous Bon Jovi concert! :-)

I'm getting so big!!

Alexa has learned a new skill...climbing up onto things. This director's chair was one of the first...she's now moved on to the couch, the bed, chairs...whatever she wants. The world is now her oyster!! :-) Also, I just LOVE these new jammies I bought her...it wasn't even bedtime in this picture, I just wanted her to wear them cuz I knew she'd look adorable in them!!

Picnic at the Park

Last week, we enjoyed a fun morning at the park with several good friends and their kids. Here are a few of the kids eating lunch at a little picnic table. Seeing Alexa with them - she looks so grown up!

Shot Through the Heart....

I am in love!! Okay, so we all know that Kevin is my true love, best friend and eternal companion....however, I have a teensy weensy, little bit of a...okay, HUGE crush on Jon Bon Jovi! As my present for my big milestone birthday this year, my wonderful friend, Waveney (who also turns 30 this year AND shares my love of JBJ), and I decided to celebrate by going to the Bon Jovi concert in Nashville last Thursday. IT WAS AMAZING!! This is the 2nd time I've seen JBJ in concert and he puts on a fabulous show! We had such a great time. We left the kiddos at home and enjoyed a much needed break. Although, after getting home at 4:00 AM the next morning and having to get up only a few hours later, I questioned that decision.....oh, who am I kidding????....it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it - headache, tiredness, crankiness, everything...totally worth it!!! I would do it again tonight if given the opportunity. Also, as an added treat, since we went to the Nashville show, both Big & Rich (who wrote a song with Bon Jovi) and LeAnn Rimes (who did a duet with Bon Jovi) performed. Kinda cool!

One of the highlights of the trip was stopping at a Pilot for treats on the way to Nashville and scoring some $5 binoculars which came in VERY handy during the concert!!

Anyways, here are a few pics from our fun-filled getaway:

Me & Wave getting ready to go inside for the concert!

Wave standing by JBJ's trucks!!! (I'm waiting for the pic of me with his trucks from Waveney's camera!!)

Right BEFORE JBJ came on stage...can you feel the anticipation????

I know, I know....just a few pictures!! :-) I wish I could post them all cuz I got some really good pics! And I'm still waiting for the ones from Wave's camera...so there may be a subsequent post!
