Birthday Pictures - 1 Year Old!!!

Happy 1st Birthday, Alexa!!!

Our baby girl is no longer a baby....Alexa turned 1 year old yesterday, November 20th. She's such a little girl now. We've had fun doing birthday stuff all week. Seeing as every few years Alexa's birthday will be on Thanksgiving, we decided we'd better get her used to not always celebrating on her actual birthday and since her mommy gets a birthday week, we figured she could too!! So we've had friends over and have had cake and cupcakes and more cake...it's been a fun few days. Alexa loved the cake, she was covered head to toe in pink icing and chocolate cake! We've attached a few videos of the cake experience as well as many pictures for ya'll to see. We can't believe it has already been a year since Alexa joined our family but we are so grateful for the joy she has brought into our lives. We love her sooooo much and wish she could see her extended family more! Thank you to all those who have shared in her birthday, near and far!

This is how I found Alexa in her crib this morning. She slept fabulously last night - from 7:00 pm until 9:00 this morning. I had bought her some new jammies a couple weeks ago but they fit her just perfectly and since she still needed some more jammies, I bought some that were a bit bigger....I guess they're just a little too big right now!! I thought it was pretty cute though!

If you look closely in the 2nd picture, you can see part of Alexa's jack-o-lantern grin. She's had her two bottom teeth for some time but now also has her two laterals on top and one central. So she's waiting for one more of her top middle teeth. It's pretty much adorable!

Fun in the leaves

The beautiful fall colors are one of the reasons why we enjoy living in Kentucky right now. Alexa had so much fun playing in the leaves. It was hard to get her to sit still long enough to take a picture...she just wanted to go, go, go!

Flippin' Fun Fantastic Festive Fall Frenzy Festival!!!

Our wonderful friends Brinn King and Sarah Ripperdan threw a fall festival on Saturday night. We, as couples, each had to come dressed up and were given different highschool "themes". We had the Rednecks, the Cheerleaders, the Hunters, the Preppy/Jocks, the Nerds, the PDA couple (Public Display of Affection) (that was us!!), the Hoodlum's (sp??) and the Hall Monitor. As you can see, everyone did a fabulous job of dressing to the nines! It was a very fun night. We are so blessed to have a great group of friends here in Kentucky.

More Halloween Fun!

Fall Harvest

We attempted to grow some vegetables this year - some tomatoes and red bell peppers. However, the squirrels that live in the pine tree just off our balcony had other ideas. We would come out most mornings to little bites out of our tomatoes or peppers. We tried putting netting up but those determined squirrels still made it in and we even used some squirrel repellent but that didn't deter them at all either. So finally we put our depleted plants on our front porch to see if we could salvage anything from them in the dwindling growing weeks. As you can see, we grew the world's largest tomato!!!! :-) But we did get a nice little red bell pepper that was quite delicious. Next year, we'll just start off putting our plants on the front porch to keep them away from the squirrels!

Happy Halloween!

This October has been very exciting and fun-filled. It is Alexa's first Halloween and so we took her to the Zoo for their "World's Largest Halloween Party". We also went to Huber Farms in Indiana for our annual pumpkin picking and then our ward had a party. As you can see, Alexa is an adorable little lion. She loves her costume, which is surprising because she really doesn't like anything on her head lately but she didn't even touch the lion once it was on her. Happy Halloween everyone!

11 Months Old!

Only ONE more month to go!! We can't believe it's almost been a year. Time has flown sooooo quickly since Alexa joined our family. We can't imagine life without her. As you can see from the MANY pictures I've posted this past month, it's been a busy one. Alexa is so much fun. She's learning to play on her own from time to time which gives mommy a much needed break to get other things done, although she still likes mommy to be close. She is cruising around anything and everything she can pull up on but hasn't taken that first step on her own yet...I think she knows that crawling is faster at this point! She's also jabbering up a storm, "talking" in her own special language. She loves to play ball with her daddy which consists of just rolling the ball back and forth between them. She tries to throw the ball but it usually ends up closer to her than her daddy. Although she did catch it one off a bounce under her chin (how impressed were we????!!!)....Kevin and I were so proud of her athletic ability!!! Anyways, we took this adorable picture of her, thanks to those family members who helps us fix the background. I couldn't figure out though how to save it back on my computer so that it didn't cut off Alexa's head!??!! Oh well, it still shows her sweet face! See you next month!
